Halloween 2008

Timmy really decorated the house this year!! It looked really spooky... All night long kids kept coming up to the house saying how cool it looked! He had a strobe light blinking, fog machine going off, and scary music playing in the background.

Here is Timmy!!

Kindred Spirit

My children's literature teacher wrote a book and it was published!! Today we went to her book signing at a local bookstore. She read a chapter of the book and it sounds very good. Unfortunately I have too much homework this semester to even remotely consider reading another book right now. Thankfully 5 more weeks of school and then I will be able to read it during Christmas break!!

Her book is called Kindred Spirit by Julia Watts. She signed the book " Tj, Tyler and Tiffany Happy Reading!" I told the kids one day when she is a famous author they will treasure the book and photo.

This picture is Tiffany trying to talk me into buying this piggy for her... No she didn't get it! I should have gotten a picture of the angry face that followed this one!

ANIMALS

Grandma Sandi's neighbors have chickens, cows, and the other neighbor has a horse. We went to visit them today! I want some baby chickens! Going to have to see if I can get Timmy to build us a chicken coop so we can get some. They were so cute.

Crafting

We went to Michael's craft store today, they have kids craft on Saturdays. The item they were making today was a haunted picture frame. It was great!! The Michael's employee worked with Tiffany and Tyler for an hour painting and decorating their frame.

First Education Presentation

I started at South College over the summer to earn my bachelor's degree in education. If all goes well I should begin student teaching in Jan 2010 and graduate May 2010.

This is my first quarter of education courses. In Foundations of Education we had to prepare a 5 minute lesson on a life skill. The task was very difficult because 5 mins is really not very much time to complete a lesson (but I guess that was part of the challenge). My lesson was on "feelings", I read a few pages of the book The Way I Feel and made a poster to use in the lesson. I asked one of my fellow students to take a picture because the professor said it would be good for our portfolio.

Fall Festival

Since the kids changed school systems, I promised that I would take them to their old school's Fall Festival on Friday night. They had a great time and got to visit with their friends. I didn't get very good pictures because they were constantly running around and wouldn't stop for even a second for me to get a good picture. I should have changed my setting to "Kids and Pets" but I didn't think about it...

NEW SCHOOL

The kids switched over to our own county's school system, today was their first day! The bus picked them up in front of the house this morning but it was dark and raining so I couldn't get a picture. Well the bus dropped them back off at the house at 3:50 today and I ran out there to get the picture.
As you can tell TJ started yelling "NO NO" as soon as he saw me and put his head down.

The great news is that all three love their new schools so it seems that it was a good move!!

Tiffany and Hope

Tiffany wanted to play with the baby named Hope across the street today. After she collected a few "babysafe" toys we walked across the street and asked if Hope could come play in our yard for a little while.
I think Tiff really enjoyed being the "big girl", she was playing so nicely with Hope it was adorable. When we took Hope home her mom said she could come play anytime we wanted to come get her. Thankfully I don't think Tiffany heard that!!

Tyler's Class

Tyler's teacher asked me to come in and help them with a special project. When I arrived she informs me that I will work with a small group of kids and we will be decorating a pumpkin as Charlotte from "Charlotte's Web".

First we painted the pumpkin with black house paint (which is why the kids are wearing garbage bag covers) and pipe cleaners as legs. The teacher brought her blow dryer to dry the paint since we had a short time frame to complete this project.

When we finished the teacher said that Monday she would bring in stuff to make a web around her so it can be displayed in the library with all of the other classrooms pumpkins.

When I found out that the whole school was decorating pumpkins I reminded Tiffany's teacher that she was allergic to pumpkin. The teacher said "Don't worry we didn't open the pumpkin and Tiffany was very quick to tell her that she couldn't touch the inside of the pumpkin. I can just hear Tiffany "advising" the teacher that she is allergic to the inside "only".
